I remember reading the press clippings in the Easton Express-Times lamenting Andrew Quarless as a more athletic, truly gifted, Kyle Brady as he finished his high school playing days as a committed Nittany Lion.
On-field disinterest and off-field difficulties both hindered Quarless' progress, but he has time to rewrite his Penn State legacy.
The tight end was named to the preseason Watch List for the 2009 John Mackey Award, a honor given annually to the nation's best tight end.
Quarless is one of six tight ends from the Big Ten among the 30 players on the preseason alert.
